In 1983 Simon Biner, Nadja Liebenstein-Biner's father, opened the Hotel Simi at its current location in Zermatt. At that time he already looked back on a successful career as a member of the Swiss National Ski Team. Due to his strong ties to that sport, he continued to work as a skiing instructor after he quit skiing on the Team. He also managed Zermatt's ski school for several years. What tipped the scales toward building a hotel was the success of the Bergrestaurant Simi, a mountain restaurant at Furi, which he had opened in 1967 together with his wife Renate. In 1994, the Hotel Simi was expanded to its current size of 41 rooms. One year later, Nadja Liebenstein-Biner and her husband Arno took over the hotel management - and they still love it! In the last years, Hotel Simi has carried out multiple renovations. The aged rooms were continuously renovated and adapted to the modern standard. In addition to that, we remade our small SPA in the hotel.
