"This is the hotel Mammoth has been waiting for." — Teddy Roach, Mountain Travel Expert
When Teddy first walked into the Limelight Mammoth this December, he knew immediately it would become his go-to recommendation for California skiers. "Everything about it feels thoughtfully designed," he tells us. "From the gear storage in every room to the Therabody recovery equipment in the fitness center, they've anticipated what modern travelers actually need."
The 124-room, all-electric property sits steps from the Village Gondola, making morning laps easy. But it's The Lounge that's stolen Teddy's heart. "The après scene is exactly what Mammoth needed — live music, creative cocktails, and that California-casual vibe where you can show up in your base layers and feel right at home." He particularly loves the heated outdoor pool with Sierra views and the complimentary breakfast that actually fuels a full day on the mountain.
Expert Tip: "I always tell my clients to book early," Teddy says. "This property is already getting buzz, and for good reason. Let me handle your lift tickets and transfers so you can go straight from arrival to that firepit view."

"It’s exciting to see Big Sky’s luxury scene keep growing, and One&Only Moonlight Basin fits right in at the top." — Tench Coxe, Mountain Travel Expert
“I’ve been helping travelers experience Big Sky for years, and this one feels different,” says Tench Coxe, a Mountain Travel Expert since 2006. “One&Only Moonlight Basin brings modern luxury into the Montana wilderness in a way that still feels authentic.”
Set across 240 private acres within the 8,100-acre Moonlight Basin landscape, the property offers wide-open views of Lone Peak and the Spanish Peaks right from your suite. “What impressed me most is architect Tom Kundig’s restraint,” Tench says. “The way the wood, stone, and glass blend into the land instead of competing with it. I love how naturally it fits here. It’s elevated, but it doesn’t try too hard. It feels like it belongs in Big Sky. A fresh, sustainable take on big-mountain adventure.”
For travelers looking to experience the best of Montana, the possibilities are endless. “You can ski Big Sky’s massive terrain, explore Yellowstone, or try winter fat-tire biking and Nordic trails right outside your door,” he explains. “Then unwind with dining that’s raising the bar in Big Sky. Each restaurant brings something new and inspired, from fireside mountain meals to open-air dinners that reflect the landscape itself.”
Tench says the resort strikes a rare balance. “It’s luxurious, but it stays connected to what makes Montana special—the wildness, the space, the stillness,” he says. “It’s an incredibly special getaway that reminds you why we love the mountains in the first place.”
Expert Tip: “I like to pair a stay here with a guided Yellowstone adventure,” Tench suggests. “It’s the perfect mix of big-mountain excitement and quiet, restorative luxury.”

"Brand-new luxury at Deer Valley, right as they're doubling in size? The timing is perfect." — Teagan Drake, Mountain Travel Expert
Teagan admits he had high expectations for Founders Place. “East West Hospitality—recently named Travel + Leisure’s 2025 World’s Best Luxury Villa Rental Company—continues to impress. This private ski-in ski-out community at the base of the Mountaineer Express is a perfect example,” he says. “My family-focused clients are excited about it.”
“What really stands out to me is The Polly, the main gathering spot,” Teagan says. “It feels like it was designed by people who actually spend time on the mountain. The pool, hot tub, and lounge are exactly what you want to come back to after a long ski day—relaxing, social, and super comfortable.”
The timing couldn't be better. Deer Valley's expanded terrain is adding over 3,700 acres of skiable terrain, more than doubling the resort's size and making it one of the largest in North America. "Seven new lifts, including a gondola, plus new skier services at the base area," Teagan notes. "But they're keeping that limited daily skier count and ski-only experience. It's classic Deer Valley. They're growing, but they're not compromising what makes them special."
Expert Tip: “Founders Place blends modern comfort with that unmistakable Deer Valley hospitality,” Teagan says. “When everything’s arranged ahead of time—the rentals, ski school, all of it—you can just wake up, put on your skis, and focus on making memories together.”
“Keystone’s getting something special with Kindred — true ski-in ski-out luxury right at the base. Families are going to love this one.” — Lou Albucher, Mountain Travel Expert
“I’ve been keeping an eye on Kindred for a while now,” says Lou Albucher, Mountain Travel Expert. “It’s exciting to see something this modern and family-friendly going in right at the base of Keystone. Between the design, the location, and the amenities, it’s going to raise the bar for ski-in ski-out stays in Summit County.”
Opening December 2025, Kindred will sit just steps from the River Run Gondola and features everything from a heated year-round pool and oversized hot tubs to a state-of-the-art fitness center and an incredible Kids Club. “From what I’ve seen, it’s built for real ski families—easy access to the slopes, space to spread out, and thoughtful details that make travel smoother,” Lou says.
He’s especially excited about what Kindred means for multi-generational trips. “Keystone’s always been a favorite for families,” he explains. “Add in a property like this, and you’ve got luxury and convenience wrapped up in one spot. I can already tell it’s going to be a go-to for my clients who want that balance of comfort and adventure.”
Expert Tip: "I tell families this is where logistics disappear," Lou says. "I'll coordinate your ski school, lift tickets, and dinner reservations so your days run as smoothly as Keystone's groomers. You just show up and enjoy."

"Old World charm with a modern soul." — Laurel Ann Nelson, Mountain Travel Expert
“Wengen has always had that timeless charm, and the new Grand Hotel Belvedere sounds like it’s bringing it into a whole new era,” says Laurel Ann, Mountain Travel Expert. “Everything I’ve seen and heard makes it feel like the perfect blend of history, scenery, and modern design.”
Fresh off a full renovation, the Belvedere now features 90 newly designed rooms overlooking the Lauterbrunnen Valley with the Jungfrau rising in the distance. “It’s one of those postcard settings that doesn’t look real,” Laurel says. “You wake up and feel like you’re part of the landscape.”
What she’s most excited about is the Japanese-inspired spa—complete with a sauna, hammam, and an indoor/outdoor pool that faces the mountains. “That mix of alpine calm and modern wellness is something travelers are really craving right now,” she adds.
With gourmet restaurants highlighting Swiss and international flavors, the Belvedere is poised to become a must-stay for anyone chasing that mix of old-world European elegance and modern comfort. “I already have clients asking about it,” Laurel says. “It’s one of those properties you can tell will be worth the wait.”
Expert Tip: “Wengen pairs beautifully with Zermatt for travelers looking to experience more of the Swiss Alps,” Laurel suggests. “You can ski, dine, and relax your way across two of the country’s most iconic mountain villages.”

Every ski season brings something new to look forward to, and these openings are no exception. Each property adds its own charm to destinations we already know and love—more comfort, more convenience, and a few fresh reasons to plan that next ski trip.
