    Whitefish Intermediate Skiing

If next to no lift lines, uncrowded slopes and about 1,500 skiable acres to yourself sound like the ski vacation you’ve been dreaming of, then a trip to Whitefish Mountain Resort should be an easy decision for you. Half of the resorts 3,000 skiable acres are designated as intermediate or blue square, terrain.  Plus, intermediates have access to both the two “backside” areas of Whitefish: Northside of the mountain and Hellroaring Basin.

    Whitefish Intermediate Terrain

Intermediates, especially, have some of the best runs at Whitefish. If you like long, sustained blue trails, then Whitefish’s runs such as The Big Ravine off of Chair 1, or Big Mountain Express chairlift, or Inspiration, Moe-Mentum and Russ’s Street are all sure to please. All of these blue runs offer incredible ridgeline views, the perfect pitch and pristine corduroy. The Big Foot T-Bar on looker’s left side of the mountain has ideal glades like Trapper’s Trail and Lodi Ridge. The perfectly-spaced trees and shorter, gentler terrain provides intermediates with a comfortable introduction to tree skiing.

To warm those legs up early in the morning, intermediate skiers have shorter blue run options off of Chair 3, or Tenderfoot chairlift, and Chair 2, or Swift Creek Express chairlift. Once you’re rearing to go, head up Chair 1, or Big Mountain Express chairlift. From the mountain’s 6,817-foot summit, drop into either the Northside via Moe Mentum to Whitetail or Goat Haunt to explore the backside of the resort. Intermediates will love George’s Gorge at the bottom of the Northside basin. You’ll find this area is wide-open and perfect for exploring the terrain. If you head into Hellroaring Basin, you’ll want to take Hell Fire down, which also offers a great perspective of the terrain in that area, all while cruising down a picture-perfect groomed blue run.
