    Northstar Intermediate Skiing

With a whopping 60-percent of Northstar’s terrain designated as blue, or intermediate runs, there are few places that can offer intermediate skiers what Northstar at Tahoe can. That equates to about 58 trails out of the resort’s 97, plus intermediate skiers have unimpeded access off of every one of Northstar’s 20 chairlifts.

    Northstar Intermediate Terrain

Intermediates can cruise down 1.4 miles of pristine groomed snow on Northstar’s longest trail, Logger Loop. Washoe, off of the Martis Camp Express chairlift, and Castle Peak, off of the Promised Land Express also offer sustained, long groomers sure to put a wide grin on any intermediate's face. The Vista Express four-person chairlift also accesses Northstar’s terrain parks and 22-foot halfpipe. Intermediate skiers have two runs to choose from on the “Backside” of the mountain, the rest of the terrain in that area is designated as expert.

The East Ridge trail, which is the ridgeline trail accessed via the Comstock Express chairlift or the Renedvous chairlift, offers incomparable views, and the option to try your luck out on Northstar’s black diamond runs. Because Northstar isn’t as steep as some of its Lake Tahoe resort counterparts, it’s an excellent area for intermediate skiers to challenge themselves. Start by skiing down the East Ridge trail to the end of the ridge. Drop into Delight or Dutchman, both trails are short black diamond runs that lead into green and blue terrain. The East Ridge is perfect for intermediates looking to progress their skiing, as they get more confident, the can drop in higher and higher on the ridgeline for longer and steeper terrain. There are few resorts that can offer intermediates the same sort of progressive terrain perfect for learning in a comfortable way. Intermediate skiers also have the luxury of skiing back to their lodging accommodations if they’re staying the looker’s right side of the Village at Northstar.
