About Kicking Horse

If you’re an admitted powder hound and have a hankering for deep snow and challenging terrain, then a Kicking Horse ski vacation should be your next winter getaway. Not only is Kicking Horse considered one of North America’s best places to score some pow, but it’s also home to one of the highest vertical drops on the continent—a staggering 4,133 feet.

Located just outside of Golden, British Columbia, Kicking Horse Resort sees a yearly average of 23 feet of some of the lightest, driest and deepest powder on the planet.

Off the slopes, Kicking Horse has eight on-mountain eateries specializing in everything from French to Japanese food. Nearby Golden also offers an assortment of additional dining options. Just over an hour and a half from Banff, and two and a half hours from Calgary, Kicking Horse is easy to get to as well.

Ski Kicking Horse

Like its namesake Kicking Horse is renowned for delivering quite the punch to even the most seasoned skiers and snowboarders, and with 60 percent of the terrain designated as black and double black, you can understand why. Some would venture to say that some of the single blacks would be double blacks elsewhere. Despite its repute, Kicking Horse has plenty of terrain for beginners, plus the Learning Center provides the perfect setting for learning to ski. And if you learn to ski at Kicking Horse, you’ll surely be a skier for life.
