Director of Travel Agency Sales

Position Summary:

Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies with travel agencies to increase sales, including but not limited to: training visits and sales calls, webinars, FAM trips, industry event training seminars, trade shows, cooperative marketing and sales incentives. Strengthen relationships with’s top travel agencies. Oversee and contribute to content of’s travel agent website. Help resolve customer service issues involving travel agents as needed.

The position requires strong sales skills, public speaking skills, travel industry knowledge, and the ability to develop rapport with travel agents to win their business while providing customer service that meets or ideally exceeds their expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate’s involvement in industry events like MLT U, Amex Sales Conference, Signature Travel Network annual conference, and possibly others
  • Create presentations and conduct product training sessions for travel agents at MLT U, Amex Sales Conference, AmExpo sales events and possibly others
  • Plan and implement travel agency sales missions with and without resort partners
  • Develop and implement a strategy to reach travel agents who work from home, for product training
  • Involvement in management and maintenance of travel agent and agency databases
  • Involvement in negotiation of travel agency consortia agreements
  • Work with VP Ops and lodging suppliers to offer consortia amenities to as part of annual contract
  • Regular communication with key travel agency partners to assess needs
  • Schedule, plan and conduct travel agent FAMS
  • Work with VP Sales to track and analyze agency account production
  • Develop and provide training for agents on travel agency agreements, promotions and other initiatives as needed
  • Communicate updates, specials, and other marketing information to travel agencies
  • Represent professionally and favorably with travel agents and suppliers
  • Handle travel agent emails, phone calls, monitor travel agent chats and respond promptly, as needed
  • Liaison between and travel agent community to resolve travel agent issues as needed
  • Work with VP Marketing to develop promotional offers for AMEX, Signature Travel Network, Travel Leaders Group and other marketing partnerships
  • Assist in determination and creative development of travel agent media buy
  • Assist in the development of a content calendar for travel agent email campaigns and other marketing initiatives
  • Become familiar with’s reservation system and back office processes so as to understand the business from the agent’s perspective
  • Additional responsibilities as requested


  • Minimum 2-4 years of sales experience in the mountain travel/hospitality industry
  • Professional presentation
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills, with proven ability to maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to constructively problem solve with travel agents and suppliers
  • Strong ability to follow-up and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with people on all levels
  • Must be self-motivated and self assured
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Strong organizational, phone and computer skills that result in high productivity
  • Goal oriented with ability to achieve established sales goals
  • Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent, professional customer service skills required
  • Familiarity with travel agency consortia such as Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network and Ensemble a plus
  • Familiarity with domestic and international ski resorts a plus
  • Ability to travel approximately 12-15 weeks per year
