There is nothing better than being in a ski town during the month of December. The holiday lights glimmering off the snow is stunning and makes you feel as though you are in a Christmas card.

From torchlight parades to skiing Santas, it seems every resort has something fun planned for the holiday season.

CRESTED BUTTE MOUNTAIN RESORT

Santa Ski and Crawl is the big event that happens for the holiday season. On Christmas Eve you will also see Santa in his sleigh getting pulled down the mountain by a snowcat.

WINTER PARK RESORT

The Annual torchlight parade and fireworks takes place right on the mountain. A procession of skiers carve down the mountain while holding glowing torches.

WHISTLER BLACKCOMB

In Mid-December skiers and snowboarder have the opportunity to get a free lift ticket for the day when they come dressed as Santa or Mrs. Claus. Only the first 75 people to arrive in costume at the Garibaldi Lift Company get a free pass.

Sunday River

On the east coast, nobody touches Sunday River in terms of Christmas spirit. So much so that hundreds if not thousands of Santa’s show up annually on December 8th to raise money for The River Fund, a local educational and community based non-profit.
