Excitement has been building around Aspen Mountain’s most extensive expansion project in decades. The expansion brings an additional 153 acres of terrain and offers a thrilling 1,220 vertical feet of skiing, all of which will be serviced by a new high-speed quad. This will increase Aspen Mountain’s lift-served terrain by more than 20 percent.

EXCITING UPDATES

Last week the terrain pod, formerly known as Pandora’s, was renamed to Hero’s. According to Geoff Buchheister, CEO of Aspen Skiing Company, this renaming pays tribute to “all of the people who brought this project to life, most impactfully Jim Crown, whose vision and leadership helped bring this ambitious expansion to reality.”

Within this expansion, runs will be named to honor the many heroes of the resort who have ties to the new terrain. These include Elli Iselin, the first female ski instructor, 10th Mountain soldier Percy Rideout, ski patrol member Eric Kinsman, and Tim Howe, who coined the name “Pandora’s Box.” Multiple runs are dedicated to Jim Crown, former owner of Aspen Ski Co., who passed away this summer.

The expansion is scheduled for completion this fall. As if you needed another reason to visit the snowy paradise of Aspen Snowmass, this season will offer you the opportunity to experience this incredible new terrain and picturesque views.
