The Construction

This summer and fall was a busy one in Snowmass. The next phase of Snowmass Base Village’s $600 million, 10-year project saw significant gains with five major projects being completed for the 2018-19 winter. Collectively, these projects have resulted in more lodging options than ever for Snowmass visitors and a whole new set of activities and attractions to add to the destination’s already stellar laundry list.

The Lodgings

Limelight Hotel Snowmass

The 99-room, 11-residence Limelight Hotel Snowmass, which opens December 2018, provides ski in ski out access via the Elk Camp Gondola. This Aspen Skiing Company-owned hotel is the third of its kind with existing locations in Aspen, Colo. and Ketchum, Idaho and features Colorado’s largest indoor climbing wall. Additional onsite offerings include an indoor/outdoor lounge and restaurant with a lively après-ski scene, fitness center, and hot tubs, all with spectacular mountain and plaza views. The mountain-contemporary building was designed by Oz Architecture, with a clean, crisp interior design approach from Stonehill & Taylor.

Lumin Residences

Lumin, a small, exclusive residential condominium building located adjacent to the Elk Camp Gondola, houses two four-bedroom and one three-bedroom residences ranging from 1,997 to 3,284 square feet and a Four Mountain Sports ski/snowboard and outfitters shop. The building was designed by a separate team at Oz Architecture with interior design by The Ranch House.

The Rink

Adjacent to the Limelight Hotel’s climbing wall is The Rink, which offers free skating daily from noon to 9 p.m. Free skate rentals are available in a vintage Airstream, and fire pits along the perimeter of the rink provide a nice place to warm up and take in the scene.

The Collective

This beautiful new community hub is centered in the heart of the Base Village, right next to The Rink and the Limelight Snowmass. Within the 8,701-square-foot gathering space a range of activities and events will be hosted including live music, film, art installations, yoga, educational series and youth-focused activities.

The Grand Opening Celebrations

December 14–16, 2018, Snowmass celebrates the grand opening of its new base village with a weekend of events including a free concert by Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, an opening party at the new Limelight Hotel Snowmass, $60 lift tickets, lodging deals and celebratory specials all around Snowmass.

On Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 families have an array of fun après-ski events including s’mores and hot cocoa, an ice sculpting demo, holiday cookies, crafts and photos with Santa. On Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., take advantage of the pop-up Holiday market featuring gift items from Lulumon, Holly Ann, Woodland, Anderson Ranch, All Things Sweet and Scout and Cellar. Test your mettle and be one of the first to climb the indoor climbing wall at the Limelight Hotel Snowmass, which will be holding a climbing competition at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 15.
