Where to stay in Jackson Hole

Skiers and snowboarders vacationing in Jackson Hole have the choice between staying in downtown Jackson Hole and Teton Village. The two towns are about 15 minutes apart, with Teton Village sitting at the base of the ski resort. Both areas have a wide range of lodging options. Teton Village is known for its luxury ski-in ski-out accommodations with amenity-rich properties like the Four Seasons, Hotel Terra and the Snake River Lodge. Jackson Hole has a more Western feel, a livelier après scene and accommodations at a wider range of price points. Here, you can find everything from luxury hotels to cozy condos and private homes ideal for families.

Best Time to Ski Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Jackson Hole’s ski season typically starts toward the end of November and runs through mid-April. While February can be extremely cold, this month has some of the best and deepest powder. March is another great time to visit. The powder is still strong, the temperatures are warming up and the resort experiences fewer crowds.

Getting around Jackson Hole

Skipping a rental car is possible for a Jackson Hole ski vacation, with the resort offering complimentary shuttle service connecting Teton Village to Jackson Hole and other main amenities. 

However, depending on your plans off the slope, a car rental might be convenient for exploring areas like Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone. 

How to get to Jackson Hole

The resort is served by Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), which is 20 miles from the resort, about a 35-minute drive, with nonstop flights from 13 major U.S. cities.

Skiing in Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has plenty of terrain to discover. Its split is about 50% expert, 40% intermediate and 10% beginner, with a total of 2,500 skiable acres and 130 named runs.

Beginner Skiing + Snowboarding at Jackson Hole

While Jackson is famous for its vertical, about half the mountain is dedicated to intermediate and beginner slopes. This is all accessible from the base along with Solitude Station, a dedicated learning area for beginners. The resort also has a ski and snowboarding school, which offers group lessons for adults and kids ages 3+, with private lessons also available.

Lift Tickets and Ski Pass Access

  • Ikon Pass: Includes 7 days at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort — perfect if you’re visiting multiple resorts. Costs around $1,500 depending on purchase date.
  • Mountain Collective Pass: 2 days at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, along with access to 25 other resorts. Early bird adult prices started around $660.
  • Daily lift tickets cost between $189 and $279 depending on the day.

  • About 10% of the mountain is dedicated to green runs, including Eagle’s Rest, Pooh Bear, Teewinot, Antelope Flats and Werner. 
  • Most of the terrain is near the base and the Sweetwater Gondola, protecting novices from high-speed traffic
