Nothing says “Happy birthday, America” like hot dogs, fireworks and…skiing. This season had record-breaking snow conditions for multiple resorts, and while we’ve seen many extend their seasons, we have on good authority that there will be a few different mountains operating on July 4th, 2023 where you’ll be able to ski and celebrate.

Where can I ski on the Fourth of July?

So far, two California resorts have confirmed they will be open on July 4th: Palisades Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain. Palisades Tahoe will be celebrating their closing day of the 2022-2023 season as well as the Fourth of July, and Mammoth Mountain announced ts closing day to be July 30. Mammoth broke its own snowfall record hitting over 700 inches of snow this season and is deeming this “second season” as the best spring skiing conditions they’ve ever had. The last time Mammoth was open through July 4th was back in 2019, so locals and visitors alike are sure to be stoked to don their red, white, blue and ski boots to shred for the holiday this summer.

Will any other ski resorts open for the Fourth of July?

Mammoth Mountain, Palisades Tahoe and Timberline Resort in Oregon are confirmed to have skiing on the 4th this summer, as of this post’s publication date. In recent weeks, Timberline announced its new closing day to be August 20, so locals will enjoy skiing through almost the whole summer. Below, we’ve included videos from Snowbird and A-Basin who have opened for skiing on America’s birthday in the past but unfortunately won’t have skiing this year for the holiday.
