To help you get a couple more turns in this season, we compiled a roundup of the best resorts where you can ski in May thanks to deep snowpacks, north-facing slopes, and high elevations.

Closing Date: As long as the snow lasts into May! 

Each year, the snowmaking and grooming crews at Breckenridge Resort work hard to keep the season running as late as humanly possible. Here are the details on late-season fun at Breckenridge Resorts.

Snowbird, Utah

This Utah resort’s ski season usually goes strong through May and this year, they’re hoping to keep The Tram running through Memorial Day Weekend, conditions permitting.

Where to stay: Enjoy several top-notch onsite restaurants and ski-in, ski-out access when staying at Snowbird’s flagship accommodations, The Cliff Lodge and Spa.

Mt Bachelor, Oregon

Closing Date: May 26, 2024 (conditions permitting)

Grab your Hawaiin shirt and slap on some warm wax because Mt Bachelor keeps the ski season running through most of May, conditions permitting. The nearby town of Bend, Oregon offers visitors incredible breweries, fly fishing, and mountain biking as well.

Palisades Tahoe, California

Spring in Lake Tahoe is a SPECIAL TIME. The crowds have cleared out and Palisades at Tahoe keeps the good vibes going late into May. The resort hypes it up with après-ski parties galore with free music to be found throughout the month!

Mammoth Mountain is always one of the last resorts standing and will be spring skiing and riding well into May!

Where to stay: Providing ski-in ski-out access, Juniper Springs Lodge is one of Conde Nast’s top 50 ski properties and well-deserving of the accolade in our book.

Killington, Vermont

The Beast of the East, Killington typically hosts skiing and snowboarding through Memorial Day, and to put it simply, it’s a scene. Retro gear, slush bumps, and lots of shorts and t-shirts make this a must-see for any East Coast skier.

Only intermediate and advanced skiing/snowboarding is available late season.

Where to stay: For all the comforts of home, including spacious living areas and full kitchens, Highridge Condominiums come well recommended.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado

When it comes to late-season skiing in Colorado, Arapahoe Basin will always reign supreme. On huge years, the ski resort can even stay open through July 4th but this year, it will close in early June.

Where to stay: Stay in nearby Keystone at the affordable and accessible, Aspen Ridge Condominiums.

Copper Mountain, Colorado

Colorado is the state that keeps on giving! Spring will extend through the end of April at Copper Mountain Resort. The extension is possible due to the resort’s high elevation and favorable slope aspects that help maintain a solid snowpack. The terrain parks stay open, featuring the superpipe and a hike park in the base area. The Sunsation + Slush Rush events are scheduled for the closing weekend of April 27-28, promising a lively close to an epic winter.

Banff Sunshine Village, Canada
