From its unique, naturally divided terrain, and world-class terrain parks and halfpipes, to its many low-key restaurants and bars, lodging options and family-friendly attractions, a Copper Mountain vacation will delight just about any skier, from first timer to expert, young to old, to those on a budget or those looking to splurge a little. On average, most of Copper Mountain’s restaurants and accommodations sway towards laidback, rather than upscale, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of world-class experiences to be had on a Copper Mountain vacation.

Ski Copper Mountain Resort

Copper Mountain is conveniently, and naturally, divided into sections based on difficulty of terrain. Almost the entire looker’s right—West Village area—of the mountain is for beginner skiers, the middle area or terrain above the Center Village is intermediate and the runs above the East Village (furthest left on a trail map) are nearly all black runs. As you can imagine, all the above treeline and bowl skiing is expert to extreme terrain, with the exception of Otto Bahn, the lone blue run in Copper Bowl.

Beginners, especially first time skiers, have terrain that allows for perfect progression from surface lift (magic carpet), and relatively flat slopes, to small chairlifts with slightly longer and more inclined trails, and so on and so forth, all the way to green trails from the top of Union Peak to the base area. Intermediates also have incredible access, from top to bottom pristine cruisers, to the Otto Bahn blue run’s breathtaking views of the expansive Copper Bowl and Tucker Mountain. Expert and advance terrain makes up 54 percent of Copper’s skiable acres, so if it’s not your first rodeo, you’ll be pleased. Copper Mountain offers expert skiers and snowboarders four bowls, acres and acres of high alpine extreme terrain, technical glades, moguls and long, sustained black trails.

In 2009, Woodward at Copper was developed at the resort as an on- and off-snow training facility for terrain park and halfpipe progression. Woodward’s on-snow program and trampoline/ramp barn, which is located on the outskirts of the East Village base area, is bound to please gravity-defying enthusiasts on a Copper Mountain vacation.

It was all great. Great price for everything. No complaints. The only suggestion is for the daycare to take the kids outside. I asked why they couldn't, and they said "high numbers". My little ones still saw snow with us sledding but that is the only suggestion I have.

copper mountain

great mountain for all levels. very economical compared to many of the other facilities I checked on before booking this. friendly staff and lifts are good. upbeat atmosphere with plenty of places to eat. we didn't eat out as we had a kitchen in our condo. the grocery store is adequate for simple stuff so we got by quite well.

Awesome place! Family friendly!

The covered bridge neighborhood is the heart of Copper! Everything you could need or want was within a 3 minute walk! We stayed in Tucker Mtn Lodge, 2 bedroom condo, literally 200 yards to the American Eagle lift. Two families, 2 kids, units are a bit small, but location location location!! We NEVER MOVED the rental car from when we parked! Great restaurants from CB's (a little more formal) to Endo's (GREAT wings and burgers and of course cold beer!) Don't miss the Crepe store! Honestly best place we have stayed and skied in Colorado. Love Vail, Breck's awesome - Copper is special. Very reasonably priced, only sticker shock was the $48 lunch over at ski school -- wife and I had two bowls of soup, 2 bottles water and crackers, chicken fingers (3) and fries! YIKES. Ate at CB's for $75 including wine!

Would not hesitate going back!! Highly recommend!

Best Vacation Ever!!

We stayed at the Lodge at Copper and we were NOT disappointed! What a great family vacation. With the ski in and ski out, great accommodations, super friendly and helpful staff we will sure return to this resort! Again we loved everything about this place and the ski conditions were just a bonus!

Easy to navigate

The resort is easy to navigate and there's some good mixed terrain.

Best family vacation ever!

This was a pre-Christmas gift to our family. (We traveled from SC with 3 young adults)Only my son had skied out west. The planning was done for us! Everything was perfect, especially the weather (lots of snow!) Cooper was not only easily accessible for someone from SC who knew nothing about driving in the snow, but everywhere we went the people were helpful and friendly. Our family had different levels of skiers and the slopes of choice were there for us. I never had to wait in the lift lines more than 1-2 minutes. We plan to return in the future. Great food at Copper Mt. and in near-by Frisco(Cutest little town ever). Thanks Copper Mt. for making this a memorable family vacation!

Fun mountain to ski, but watch your skis

My husband and I spent 5 days skiing at Copper Mountain over the holidays. Being the early season they could have used some more snow but many of the open runs were quite long, unfortunately the bowls were closed. We were staying at Center Village and could have brought our skis to the condo locker during lunch , however one day we were lazy and left them out at the base ski racks and someone stole my husbands skis in the 30-45 minutes we were eating lunch. When we reported this to security we were the 5th person to report stolen skis that day. A couple of days later we went to Monarch, a small local resort near my husband's hometown and there were warnings everywhere to not leave your skis out unlocked and the rental shop told him not to leave the demo skis he was renting unattended. There seems to be an increase in equipment in Colorado, possibly due to the economy. Copper probably does not want to warn people with a lot of signage because of the negative PR impact, my husband's cousin who lives in Denver always splits his skis up when he stops for a break. My skis are pretty old so there probably is not much of a market for them but when I buy a new pair I will definitely get a lock.

What a weekend

Only being able to travel out west once a year I usually don't ski the same resort twice, but I'm going to have to make Copper the exception next year. An unexpected business trip afforded me the opportunity to hit the slopes for a weekend and I discovered a place with reasonable prices, easy access from I-70, slow lifts - but short lines, loooooong cruisers and deep snow. Even though I only skied two days, I saw enough that I'm sure my entire family would have something to enjoy and it was all within walking distance to my reasonably priced and roomy condo. Next season, while my 8 year old son and I tear up the blue runs while doing laps on the Timberline chair, I'm sure my 4 year old will enjoy her introduction to skiing in the large beginner area under the Kokoma and Lumberjack chairs all while my non-skiing wife can leisurely enjoy her spa treatments. I can hardly wait.

A Great Way to Spend New Years Eve!

I met my good friend at Copper Mountain a few days before New Years this year. The skiing was great. Everyone was so friendly. All of the restaurants and bars were walking distance. We had a wonderful time.
