Insider Tips for Family Ski Trips
- Choose Ski-In Ski-Out Lodging: When you’re traveling with little ones (and all their gear!), convenience is everything. Staying at a ski-in ski-out property means fewer shuttle rides, faster mornings and more time on the mountain. Trust us, your future self will thank you.
- Take Advantage of Ski Schools and Childcare: Most top resorts offer excellent ski and snowboard schools for kids of all ages and skill levels (or childcare for the little ones not interested in skiing). Let the pros handle the teaching while you enjoy a few adult-only runs, or sneak in a spa treatment or leisurely lunch. It’s a win-win.
- Pack Like a Pro: Mountain weather can change fast, so bring plenty of layers, waterproof gear and high-SPF sunscreen. Don’t forget the little things that make a big difference: extra gloves, on-the-go snacks, hand warmers and comfy après-ski clothes. If you’re flying in, consider reserving rentals in advance so you don’t have to haul all that gear through the airport.
- Book Early for the Best Deals: Family-friendly resorts and “Kids Ski Free” packages tend to book up quickly, especially during peak holidays and school breaks (plus some deals are only available preseason). Lock in your lodging, lift tickets and rentals early to score the best rates and availability.
