Ski.com’s Epic Dream Job – Stop 8: Fernie, B.C.
Photos and video by Jackson Lebsack.
With an average annual snowfall of 29 feet, Fernie Alpine Resort is what powder lover’s dream of. Adventurous skiers and riders will think they’ve died and gone to heaven with Fernie’s 2,500-plus acres of terrain and 2,800-plus-foot vertical, five spectacular open bowls, ridges and glades. A wide variety of brand new on-mountain ski in ski out condo-style accommodations have been developed, as well as improved base area facilities. Despite its repute as a snowy destination, the weather is quite manageable, making it a great ski vacation for cold-sensitive skiers. If it’s not snowing, it’s sunny in Fernie. Skiing Magazine put it best when they said, “Fernie Alpine Resort is another magical place where temperatures are mild and snowfalls massive!”
Fernie joined the Epic Pass this summer, just in time for 2018-19 passholders to enjoy 7 days of access.
Earlier this week, Ski.com’s Epic Dream Job hire, Jackson Lebsack, spent a couple days exploring Fernie, along with Buddy Ticket recipients Aaron and Matt of The Rolling Van.

Originally from the icy trails of New Jersey, I moved West to pursue powder and a career in writing and editing. Now living in Aspen, Colo. and working for Ski.com as Director of SEO + Content, I've been able to combine a litany of skills, passions and interests. You'll find me skiing at Aspen Mountain or Aspen Highlands in the winter and mountain biking at Snowmass in the summer.
