Those driving from Calgary to Banff will be floored by the geological change that happens over the course of the hour and a half drive up the Trans Canada Highway. Thanks to “upthrusting” between the two continental plates some 80-120 million years ago, the mountains are as dramatic as the alps with plenty of stunning, 360 degree views of the Bow Valley. To sum it up, Banff’s beauty and grandeur is millions of years in the making.
This week, Ski.com Dream Job hires, Jake Burchmore and Taylor Ahearn will travel from their home in Crested Butte, Colorado to the Canadian Rockies for a week long adventure in and around the towns of Banff & Lake Louise. Their plans include everything from soaking in natural hot springs to checking out the one-of-a-kind, alpine lodging option at Sunshine Village (spoiler: ski-in ski-out doesn’t get any better than this).

Last light on the mother rock after receiving a couple inches of new snowfall. More snow expected over the next few days hopefully bringing on a more proper burial. ❄️🙏#burythebutte #hyperlapse #djicreator #crestedbutte #colorado #embracethestorm #weliveelevated #polarpro
