The Canadian border will open to vaccinated US travelers on August 9, 2021. The announcement, made by Canadian government officials at a news conference on Monday, had been expected for the past week yet public health officials had to pay attention to the finer details before making it official.

US travelers to Canada must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72-hours prior to arrival as well as proof of vaccination. Accepted COVID-19 vaccines include Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. Due to concerns surrounding the spread of the Delta Variant, random travelers will also be subject to a mandatory post-arrival COVID-19 test. In terms of other international travelers, Canada hopes to open its border to vaccinated nationals from other countries by September 9th.

For skiers and riders who have been waiting to pull the trigger on that Canadian ski vacation, the wait is finally over. Needless to say, we’ve dearly missed our resort partners up north and we can’t wait for a good ole fashioned North American reunion in the mountains this winter.
