In a first for a presidential K-9, Major Biden will be shipped off to Aspen Snowmass‘ Canine Ski Patrol Boot Camp for an intensive, 8-week course to reign in the German Shepherd’s less desirable instincts, all while giving him a chance to serve the mountain communities of the Roaring Fork Valley.

The move came after Major took a bite out of a National Park Service employee on the South Lawn of the White House this past Monday afternoon. While many were quick to point out how Major has not been subject to this level of attention prior to moving into the White House, the pooch is doing his best to remain positive after this latest shakeup as best friend to the Commander-in-Chief. Still, Major expressed enthusiasm at the chance to challenge himself in the mountains and told this reporter that he hopes to do everything possible to earn back the trust of the National Park Service in the coming months.

According to a recent interview with his assigned ski patrol partner, Major has been enjoying his strenuous getaway in the mountains since arriving yesterday. “We started him off with simple snow burial stuff and he conquered that pretty quickly. I think tonight the boys and I will show him how to fetch beer from the fridge. I don’t think it’ll take too long.”
