Les 2 Alpes is the kind of resort that surprises people. It's also one of the oldest ski resorts in France. Set high in the southern French Alps, this is a destination that combines massive vertical, reliable snow, and a lively and fun village with pricing that makes a European ski trip feel genuinely attainable.

With 50+ years of ski travel experience, we know how to plan a memorable mountain getaway. Take planning off your plate and let our Experts handle the details.
The resort spans more than 200 kilometers (124 miles) of pistes and delivers over 2,200 meters (7,218 feet) of skiable vertical, putting it in the same league as some of the largest ski areas in the world. Lifts rise directly from multiple points in the village, so days start easily without long commutes or complex base areas. At the top, a glacier climbs to 3,568 meters (11,706 feet), helping preserve snow quality through the season and making Les 2 Alpes one of the few places in Europe where skiing continues into the summer.
Expert skiers come for the scale. The off-piste terrain above the village opens up in every direction, with steep faces, freeride zones, and easy access to challenging lines that stay surprisingly quiet even on busy weeks.

The village plays a big role in the overall experience. Les 2 Alpes has an energetic, social feel, with après-ski that starts early and continues well into the evening. Bars, casual restaurants, and live music are easy to find, and on-mountain dining offers an impressive mix of quality and value that stands out in the French Alps. Ski-in ski-out lodging is widely available, and accommodations lower in the valley connect seamlessly via lifts and the Venosc gondola.
Les 2 Alpes is not a resort built around endless intermediate cruising, but for beginners eager to improve and experts looking for room to explore, it delivers exceptional value.
There’s no shortage of great places to stay in Les 2 Alpes. From beautiful chalets and slope-adjacent hotels to spacious vacation rentals, our Mountain Travel Experts can help you zero in on the perfect setup for your crew.
Find LodgingLes 2 Alpes is one of the easier Alpine resorts to reach, with Grenoble Airport (GNB) the closest and most popular option. It’s around a 90-minute drive or transfer, making it optimal for international visitors who want the shortest journey after landing. Lyon Airport (LYS) and Geneva Airport (GVA) are also very common choices; they’re a bit further (around 2–3 hours) but often have cheaper flights and more frequent services. From all three airports, shared or private transfers are widely available, and hiring a car is straightforward if you’re comfortable driving mountain roads in winter.
For budget-conscious or eco-minded travellers, trains and coaches are your best bet. There’s no train station at the resort, but Grenoble SNCF is only about an-hour-and-15-minutes away and is served by direct TGV trains from Paris and Lyon. From Grenoble, you can take a public bus or winter-only direct ski bus up to Les 2 Alpes. Long-distance coaches like FlixBus or BlaBlaBus to Grenoble or Lyon are usually the cheapest option overall, just slower. Driving can also work well for families or groups, especially when sharing costs, but be prepared for a twisty final climb.

Once you arrive in Les 2 Alpes, getting around is simple and low stress. Most visitors do not need a car during their stay.
