Aspen/Snowmass received some big news yesterday – Winter X Games will remain in Aspen through 2019! Located in our backyard (literally!), Buttermilk has hosted this iconic action sports weekend for the last 13 years, and by the end of the extension, its run will have stretched to nearly two decades.

Winter X Games attracts a young, spirited crowd to Aspen, and, as the keystone winter event for the action sports industry, it brings world-famous athletes, brand ambassadors and media to our small mountain town. What’s more, the X Games shares the snow sports we love with millions of non-skiers around the world on ESPN’s big screen.  We’ve heard countless stories about families who book their first ski vacation with us after after little Timmy saw Shaun White boost out of the X Games Superpipe. We’re thankful to have Winter X Games in our backyard, and we hope many more people are inspired to take up winter sports after watching the extreme athletes compete on Aspen’s stage.
