Now, this is the type of news we like to wake up to. After an atmospheric river delivered 3 feet of fresh snow to the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada, ski season is officially getting a head start in California. Yesterday, Palisades Tahoe announced that it would be joining Mammoth Mountain by opening for the season on Friday, October 27.

According to reports, the snow that fell on the high peaks was the perfect type of “base building” snow you hope to see during the early season months of October and November. And this is a VERY early season. In fact, it’s only the third time in Palisades Tahoe history that they’ve been able to open to the public in October!
