We hope you’re as psyched as we are to hear the news that Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows were blessed with nearly a foot of snow last night. This is good news for opening day at Squaw, which is scheduled for November 27, 2013. Alpine Meadows is set to open December 13, 2013. If this keeps up skiers and snowboarders will have a lot to celebrate for opening day.

Squaw’s base area received five inches of snow overnight, while the resort’s High Camp area saw 10 inches. Alpine Meadow’s base area experienced a whopping 10 inches and it’s Upper Mountain received an incredible 14 inches. Not a bad start to winter in California, if we so say so.

This storm system is moving East now, but forecaster Bryan Allegretto with Lake Tahoe OpenSnow says the area can expect another one to three inches into Tuesday. The storm will continue moving East and could drop nearly a foot in Utah and Colorado.
