Coming on the heels of Aspen Snowmass’s announcement, Whistler Blackcomb also announced today that they’ll open five days early on Nov. 22! After seeing lots of photos and videos of early-season snow that look less like November and more like February, we had a hunch the Whistler folks were pondering an earlier rope drop.  The early-opening call was made after weeks of natural snowfall and below-average temperatures, providing prime conditions for snowmaking.

This Saturday, Whistler Mountain will open with five lifts running, and guests will have the option to upload from either the base of Whistler Mountain via the Whistler Village Gondola (with shiny, new cabins!) or the Creekside base bis the Creekside Gondola. Skiing will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the last upload at 2 p.m.
