Whitefish Nightlife

You won’t find dance clubs and a raging, all hours of the night bar scene in Whitefish. The nightlife trends towards casual happy hours, après-ski beers and quiet cocktails in downtown Whitefish. The majority of the bars are located on Central Avenue, which is conveniently placed near the majority of Whitefish’s shopping and restaurant district. And since the ski resort is a short 15-minute drive from the downtown area, there’s no reason not to check out the fun, laidback Whitefish bar scene.

Whitefish Bars

If you love handcrafted beer, then The Great Northern Brewery, on Central Avenue in downtown Whitefish, should be at the top of your nightlife list. With 14 beers, including two special barrel-aged small batches, to choose from beer connoisseurs will think they’ve died and gone to heaven. From their Wild Huckelberry Wheat Ale to their Snow Ghost Winter Lager to their Buckin’ Horse Pilsner and Going to the Sun IPA, to mention a few, you’ll find a draft to suit your tastes. Plus, the brewery is conveniently located steps from the O’Shaunessy Snow Bus stop, making it any place to pop in to for a quick après beer.  

Other great bar stops along Central Avenue include Bulldog Saloon, for a good dive bar scene, Casey’s to catch a sports game, and Palace Bar, for billards and affordable cocktails.

Whitefish Apres

If you opt for a proper après-ski session in the Whitefish base village, you won’t be disappointed. Classic options like The Bierstube bring skiers and boarders back to the early days of Whitefish Resort. The Bierstube has historical significance as one of “Canada’s Favorite Bars.” There’s nothing like a beer on ‘Stube’s patio after a long day on the slopes. The Summit House, which sits at 7,000 feet above sea level at the top of Chair 1, or Big Mountain Express lift, offers post-ski beers with an incredible view of Glacier National Park.
