Wildwood Snowmass

Room was clean. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Plumbing worked well. Walking distance to mountain. Relatively inexpensive. Just what we were looking for. Free breakfast is adequate but nothing to rave about.

I had a great time at the Wildwood Lodge in Jan 2011, but I had plenty of problems; the biggest one was the thermostant was not working, so the first night I coukd not sleep well as the room was too cold, the following morning someone came to repair it and told me the main heater valve was closed so the room could not get warm enough; next night the room was too warm, even though I set the thermostat to 60 the room temperature could not get below 75F. I spent most of the night playing with the main heat valve to find the proper opening to get it to 68F. I called again, they came again but they never repaired the thermostat I just learned how much to keep the main valve open enough so the room would be at 68F. The clothesline was broken, it was repaired, the pen in the room did not work, they gave me a new one, there was a leaky faucett in the tub, so I had to close the bathroom door so I could not hear it while I was trying to sleep - I forgot to call about it. We were supposed to get bathrobes and slippers to go the hot tub, I had to ask for them 4 times to get the robes, I never got the slippers. The lobby was not working so we had to use the fireplace of the neighboring Silvertree hotel to warm ourselves after the ski day. The employess were very kind, the location is great, although it is not ski in/out there is complementary ski storage by the mointain and we just walk about 50 feet to the hotel without skis. The room is ample, I had a room close to the hot tub which I enjoyed a lot. The hotel is in front of my favorite Italian restaurant in the mountain, and the breakfast is fabulous. Regardless of the issues chances are that I might return.
