Schneetag - April 15, 2012: Schneetag (pronounced Sch-knee Tog) is the German word for "snow day." Put simply, it translates as "daredevils willing to propel themselves down a hill, over a jump and across a pond on a craft they built themselves." The 5th annual Schneetag event invites teams of four to create a craft they will pilot down Aspen Mountain in front of Bonnie's restaurant and attempt to float across a 20 x 30-foot pond. Every team has a theme and will perform a skit before they descend. Last year prizes included a trip to the ESPN X Summer Games in Los Angeles, tickets to a professional sporting event in Denver and skis and snowboards.
Aspen Highlands Closing Day - April 22, 2012: Aspen Highlands is best known for Highland Bowl and as the destination most locals call their favorite. On closing day visitors can expect to enjoy live music, pond skimming, crazy outfits and one of the best vibes anywhere in the mountains.
Breckenridge, Colo.
Spring Fever - March 17 to April 15, 2012: This four week-long festival features world-renowned bands, including Julian Marley, Donovan Frankenreiter, Toots and the Maytals, Leftover Salmon and Rusted Root. Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival - April 13 to 22: This 10-day festival is one of the biggest and best end-of-season celebrations in the mountains.
