Hey Florida!  you're in for a treat.  We have skied all over the west and decided a few years ago to buy a week at Park City (Marriott's Mountainside) so we return every year.  We usually do a couple days at places other than the three great places in Park City,  Canyons (HUGE and growing) PC Mountain Resort, (we are ski in ski out there) and Deer Valley which is consistantly #1 or #2 in the polls, (no boarders BTW.)  Snowbasin is well worth the drive, near Ogden, Alta and Snowbird are fabulous too.  We are going to try Solitude this trip, smaller and family friendly and possibly Sundance, only four lifts but supposed to be gorgeous. Be flexible

Eats:  We love PF Changs in downtown SLC and all the places in Trolley Square.. there's a ton of choices.  I can't wait to get back to PC, the Wasatch Brew Pub,  and Nacho Mama's.  Kimball junction on the way to PC has a new shopping center with several choices, Red Rock (sic.).

Brace yourself!  you can't help but have agreat time there.. they live up to their slogan,, "Greatest snow on earth!"

My husband and I moved here 9 years ago for the greatest snow on earth.  Even in a less than stellar snow year, Utah's snow is great.  You will have a great time.  Restaurants other than the ubiquitous chains?   Near Sandy is Taste of Punjab in a strip mall at the corner of 1300 east and 8600 south.  Order the butter chicken and make sure to order the garlic naan.  Inexpensive and superb.  They have a great daily lunch buffet for $9.  Also, straight down the Big Cottonwood canyon on Ft. Union Blvd is Porcupine Grill right next to the Lift House at the mouth of the canyon.  Excellent food and laid-back but friendly and pretty efficient service.  Try their shrimp pizza.  Further down Ft. Union is Epic about 3-4 miles from mouth of the canyon.  Great wine list, and the food is Italian influenced. but with a modern fresh flair.  Their Senor Martinez salad is delicious beyond compare.  Do not let your compadres con you into sharing---it's that good.  Kneaders across the street is great for sandwiches or a bakery goody for the next morning.  If you want to go further afield, some of the best Thai food can be found at Thai Garden located in a shopping center on 4500 south and 900 east.  Small but killer wine list, and the food is all good.  The duck curry and the soups are all beyond compare.  Vipada, the owner, is a dedicated foodie and you won't be disappointed.  A bit further into town is Mazza which is located in a dleightful neighborhood at 1500 south and 1500 east.  It is Lebanese food, better than some I've had even in the Middle East.  The owner, Ali, oversees the food, front of house, and has a dedication to great food without pretense.  Try the appetizer platter (you choose 3-4 items from the appy menu) and a shawarma platter.  He makes the best baba ganooj I have ever eaten, bar none.  Also, all pastries are made in-house, and they are incomparable.  Places to avoid---well, the Oyster Bar/Market Street Grill used to be the happening place for the apres ski crowd.  However, last summer saw the introduction of a new management team, and they seem to be doing their dangdest to run it into the ground.  Higher prices, smaller portions, and wicked drink prices.  Skip the tourist-gouging prices and hit some of the aforementioned places.  There's quite a few more I'd be happy to post, but these will give you a good start.  Have fun---and if you get to Alta, they serve the best hot dog and fries for about $5-6.  Enjoy!
