The village is really small compared to most resorts BUT,, it's got everything you need including some really good eats.  We tool a whole week of ski school there so it really paid to be right at the base.  They beat the crap out of us!,, so the hot tub was used..  Plus the first night there, it snowed FIVE FEET!)  I was really glad we didn't have to make the drive up the mountain.  It's not that long but a lot of elevation gain.  We would have missed first tracks and seeing the locals skiing in snorkels.  We got to see Taos, the pueblo, and Santa Fe on the way home.. spent one night in Santa Fe.  Well worth it.  Do NOT pass up the chance to go to one of the best ski schools around.  Great place.
