Tahoe has a bunch of great mountains
Squaw Valley-hardest terrain in region, great snow, huge resort, can get crowded, but #1 choice for me,
Heavenly-Largest mountain, good terrain, spectacular scenery, can get crowded, not as much as snow as other mountains, and is very expensive
Alpine Meadows-never crowded, cheapest mountain (only $39 day-ticket), awesome terrain, great snow,
Kirkwood-great steeps, great snow, little expensive, but well-worth it
Sugar Bowl-most snow in CA, marginal crowds, affordable, closest to Sacramento
Mt. Rose-has some insane runs like "The Chutes", but other than that it doesn't compare to others I've mentioned
North Star-at-Tahoe-crowded, flat, overrated, rainy, expensive,
Sierra-at-Tahoe-good snow, beginner terrain,
Diamond Peak-Wouldn't bother, good beginner mountain, closes mountain to Reno
I agree with squaw being #1.
