First time out west advice

A good friend and I are headed out west to Co for the first time. We were thinking of renting a car and doing day trips to multiple resorts. I am now thinking it may be more fun to just pick one and stay (spend less tie in the car) and allow for some night life. We are both pretty good boarders but neither one of us have been beyond the east and the ice.

Also any good advice about which resort. We are flying into Denver, we don’t like lines a tt eh lift and are looking for big powder. We will be going Jan 18-22

Re: First time out west advice
I always tell folks to just go up to summit county on their first western trip, stay in Silverthorn or Frisco and ski Keystone, Breck, Copper and MAYBE if Vail pass is clear go up to Vail and Beaver Creek.  BUTT!,,, there's a lot to be said fro staying in one spot and getting more on slope time, less car.  I'd recommend looking at the 50 top resorts issue of ski.  Think about priorities.. I instantly thought of Steamboat when you said powder.. but trust me,  out west is ALL powder to easterners.  The Boat is a great town too.  Another one is, skip the car alltogether and get a ride to Winter Park, maybe do the ski train.  Regardless, you can't go wrong, unless you are likely to get sick of driving every morning in potenetially very tough stuff.
