With back-to-back storms streaming across North America, we’ve seen a flurry of early-opening announcements. The latest U.S. ski resort to announce an early opening day is our backyard ski area, Aspen Mountain, which will open for two days of early skiing and riding on Nov. 14 and 15.

Ski resorts that have announced early opening days

  • Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows: Alpine Meadows opens Nov. 12, Squaw opens Nov. 14
  • Big White: Nov. 13
  • Heavenly: Nov. 14
  • Aspen Snowmass: Aspen Mountain opens on Nov. 14 and 15, and Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will open for the season on Nov. 21.
  • Whistler Blackcomb: Whistler Mountain opens early on Nov. 19, and Blackcomb Mountain opens Nov. 26.
  • Sun Peaks: The second largest ski resort in Canada opens early on Nov. 20.
  • Snowbird: Thanks to all the recent snow, Snowbird is opening on Nov. 20.
  • Steamboat: Celebrating the first early opening day in 13 years, Steamboat opens on Nov. 21 and 22 for a weekend preview, five days ahead of schedule.
  • Kicking Horse: Thanks to massive storms, Kicking Horse has received nearly nine feet of snow this season, letting them open earlier than ever before. The resort is opening for two preview weekends: Nov. 28 and 29 and Dec. 5 and 6.
