Every autumn dozens of industry reps from resorts, properties and more descend on Ski.com headquarters in Aspen, Colo. to update us on what’s new for the coming season. We sat down to chat with Jeff from the Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley, and here’s what he had to share:

Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley

Q&A with Jeff from Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley

Q: What’s new with Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley for 2015/16?
A: Stein Eriksen Lodge has undertaken an expansive renovation of guestrooms with nearly $8.5 million spent in the past two years in room renovation and refurbishment and expect to spend another $4 million in the next 12 months specifically enhancing our guestrooms.

Q: What makes Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley unique or different from other hotels?
A: We are very much a classic ski lodge. Our property is spread over 10 acres with the tallest building being only five stories high. It allows a guest to get the feeling they aren’t staying at a massive hotel.

Second, our location being in Silver Lake Village is also unique to the Deer Valley properties. We are located mid-mountain slopeside. This gives our guests access to a mix of terrain right out our back door. There is even a magic carpet now for first time skiers. Guests also have the option to walk within a few minutes to the village to enjoy three Deer Valley dining options, multiple other hotel dining options and some good shopping.

Lastly and one of the most important in my opinion is that Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley is the only luxury property that offers private hot tubs on all balconies. Of course guests can go and utilize the complimentary spa facilities, however if their room has a hot tub they can go from skiing to relaxing in their private spa. Nothing better than finishing the day with a glass of champagne in your private spa!

Q: In your opinion, what are the top three reasons skiers and snowboarders return year after year to rent with Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley?
A: We are very honored by our repeat business. Forty percent of the employees at Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley have tenure of five years or more. This gives guests a familiar face year after year and allows us to know the preferences of our guests.

Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley evokes a home away from home feeling for our guests. Many consider Steins a second home, bringing their families back each generation. The memories they make here at the lodge are something families want to be sure are passed down.

Accessibility to our slopes is something I hear all the time from our repeat guests as well. With such easy access into Salt Lake City and a quick drive to get to Steins guest feel like there isn’t much easier. Yet, with that said, you feel worlds away from Salt Lake or any other city.

Q: What’s the No. 1 reason Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley partners with Ski.com year in and year out?
A: We know that the agents at Ski.com are well educated and they know the correct information to pass onto travel agents or guests. I am always confident that when a Ski.com guest arrives they will be happy with the accommodations they reserved through their Mountain Travel Experts.

Q: If possible, do you know how many years Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley has worked with Ski.com?
A: Our relationship might go back as far as the 1980’s, but I’m not sure!
