This historical mining town turned world-class ski destination is located in Central Colorado in the beautiful Elk Mountain Range. From historical attractions to high-end shopping and fine-dining to the resort’s four ski area experiences: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass, Aspen is overflowing with options. Some resorts can offer an outstanding family experience, some can offer top-notch fine-dining options, others can offer an expert skier’s paradise or an intermediate cruisers dream, but few can offer all of this rolled into one of the most charming mountain towns and nightlife scenes in North America.

Ski Aspen

Beginner and intermediate skiers will blossom at Buttermilk and Snowmass, each of which have beginner and kid-friendly facilities, and designated “learn to ski” zones. But if you were to combine all four Aspen/Snowmass ski areas into one, the collective resort experience is an intermediate skier’s dreamland, since the overwhelming majority of the resort terrain designated as intermediate terrain. Note: Beginner skiers or snowboarders should not ski at Aspen Mountain, because there are no green trails. Skiing at Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands is on many an expert skier’s “bucket list.” Cult-classic ‘80s ski movie, Aspen Extreme was filmed on the slopes of Aspen Mountain, or “Ajax.” Thanks to Aspen Mountain’s Silver Queen Gondola’s 3,267-foot vertical ascent expert skiers can ski the resort’s renowned steep, mogul runs until they drop. Adventure-seekers can also get their kicks by hiking the 700 vertical feet to the top of famed Aspen Highland Bowl. At the summit guests are rewarded at the top with one Aspen/Snowmass’ best views and incredible inbounds, backcountry-esque skiing.

Snowmass Ski Resort

Snow "Massive," as it is called by locals, is too big to explore in just one day. The mountain itself encompasses 3,132 acres of diverse terrain. With its wide open runs, you'll often find skiers and snowboarders taking huge wide turns while they enjoy Snowmass' freshly groomed corduroy.

Buttermilk Ski Resort

If you've ever watched the ESPN Winter X Games, then you are undoubtedly familiar with the Buttermilk Ski Resort in Aspen, Colorado. Host of the ESPN Winter X Games through 2019, Buttermilk is also a premier mountain for beginners and families. While boundless skiers and snowboarders test the limits of modern day snow sports, visitors to Buttermilk who like their skis closer to the ground, will enjoy the gentle cruisers which also make up the Buttermilk terrain.
