Where to go using Hilton or Marriott points?
We are starting to plan a ski trip for this upcoming winter.  We have both Marriott and Hilton points we can use, and would like some advice on what resort to go to and which hotel to stay in (using points).

Of course, it's never really that cut and dried and we have some criteria we'd like to try to meet:

1.  The mountain should be beginner-friendly.
2.  Our kids are 12 and 16, so the room accommodations need to be spacious, preferably a suite with a kitchenette/fridge/microwave.  They won't fit if we have to use a sleeper sofa!
3.  I'm not really a skier, so it would be nice to have a place where there's stuff to do during the day while they're skiing.
4.  Close to lifts--very close--is important.  I really don't want o stay in SLC where we have to drive everywhere (see #3).
5.  Great ski school.
 
This will be our first family ski trip.  Our kids have skied several times for a day here and there in North Carolina, but nothing like the slopes out west.  My husband and I skied quite a bit in our younger days-- both of us absolutely loved Alta for different reasons, but unfortunately no Hiltons or Marriotts there!

It looks like Marriott has a fair amount of locations in Vail, and Hilton has a resort in Whistler, but I'm having a hard time getting a feel for location in relation to the lifts and size of rooms.

Any suggestions, ideas or advice?
