Ski New Years

Last year I skied in Whistler and it rained the whole time! This year Im planning on skiing in the Holidays. The thing is, Im in Brazil, so I want to do it right, I have to go to the right place, without running the risk of getting more rain!  What do you suggest?  We want to go somewhere where we can party on New Years, yet not run into many tourists from our own country or just packed resorts. Between Breckenridge and Big Sky, what would you choose? Banff in Canada is also a good option, but we want lots os snow, lots of snow! If you've been to any of the three, could you tell me what the atmosphere is in these resorts? Moneywise, familywise, partywise..! tks!

Re: Ski New Years

Hello Jackie

Why dont you want to meet people from Brasil?

Actualy, I´m also from Brasil and I´m not sure with of these resorts is the best one, ore the one with more snowfall.

But all of then are far from the sea, what makes it dificult to rain during the winter time, in the oposition, Whistler is realy close to the sea and as a consequence it gets a lot of precipitation, some times unfotunetly... rains...

Re: Ski New Years

Hey, Jackie-

People are already skiing in the Rockies, so holiday snow might be the best we've seen in years!  Big Sky, Breck and Banff should all have great snow for New Years.  Give one of our Ski.com agents a call at 1-800-778-8589. Mountain accommodations and the flights into the resorts are filling up very, very quickly for the holidays.  Because Ski.com has guaranteed block units at some of the hottest mountain hotels and condos and block airline seats on flights coming into the mountains, we can still customize the perfect vacation package for you.  Also, because you're looking to party on New Years, the agent you speak with can give you recommendations on which resorts offer the best nightlife - and our Ski.com concierge can make reservations for you!!

Re: Ski New Years

Whister is notorious for rain; sounds like nobody warned you about it.  The most popular skiwear there is a large Glad bag with holes cut for your head and arms.

The first ski resort in the Banff area opened this week, and two more will be opening on November 15th.  Conditions are generally good in the region by New Years and are pretty reliable.  Early season men's and women's world cup races are scheduled for Banff in late November and early December.

The town of Banff has lots to offer in the way of amenities, restaurants, and night life.  You can't go wrong there for New Years.  Stay away from Lake Louise as far as a place to stay, as there is very little there other than a handfull of hotels and a very small strip mall by the highway.  It's fine if you're looking to get away from it all, but if you're looking for a lively resort town stay in Banff instead.
